4 January, 2025; As Delhi gears up for its upcoming elections, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has raised strong concerns about the role of the central government and the opposition parties in the city’s governance. In a recent statement, Bharadwaj launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the party of destroying the law and order situation in the capital. He also criticized the Congress for its alleged lack of seriousness in the electoral process.
According to Bharadwaj, several central government agencies, including the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), railways, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and the Lakshmi Narayan Devotees Organisation (LNDO), have contributed to a growing housing crisis in the city. He claimed that these agencies’ actions have rendered lakhs of people homeless, further exacerbating the city’s housing woes.
Bharadwaj also took issue with the BJP’s priorities, pointing to a significant tender worth Rs 466 crore released during the COVID-19 pandemic to build the Prime Minister’s house. He emphasized the contrast between such expenditure and the pressing needs of the citizens of Delhi, many of whom continue to suffer from inadequate housing and infrastructure.
The AAP leader did not hold back in his criticism of the BJP’s handling of Delhi’s law and order situation, claiming that the party has done little to improve the security and safety of the city’s residents. According to Bharadwaj, BJP’s mismanagement has led to widespread insecurity, creating a challenging environment for Delhiites.
Bharadwaj also questioned the role of Congress in the upcoming elections, dismissing their participation as largely symbolic. He alleged that Congress was simply looking to “poke” and disrupt the political landscape, and that their primary intention in contesting the elections was to support the BJP, rather than offering any substantial alternative to the people of Delhi.
As the election season intensifies, Bharadwaj’s remarks reflect the growing political tensions in Delhi, with AAP positioning itself as the main challenger to the BJP’s influence. With issues of law and order, housing, and governance at the forefront, the Delhi elections promise to be a critical battleground for the future of the city.
