4 January, 2025; In a significant development for Delhi’s public transportation infrastructure, Chief Minister Atishi announced that the foundation stone for the fourth phase of the Delhi Metro will be laid tomorrow. The much-anticipated expansion includes the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor, a move expected to enhance connectivity to underserved areas. Additionally, the extension of the metro line from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park will also be inaugurated, marking another milestone in the city’s metro network.
CM Atishi emphasized the extensive progress achieved by the Delhi Metro under the leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. She highlighted that this rapid expansion in the metro network has surpassed all developments made in previous years.
“After the formation of the AAP government in Delhi, the Delhi Metro has expanded so extensively, which never happened in the past years,” she said, reflecting the government’s commitment to modernizing urban transit and addressing the needs of Delhi’s growing population.
Enhancing Connectivity and Urban Mobility
The Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor is a vital project, aiming to connect Delhi’s peripheral regions to its urban hubs. By improving access to Narela, a rapidly developing area with residential and industrial zones, the project is expected to boost economic activity and ease commuting challenges for thousands of residents.
The Janakpuri West to Krishna Park extension is another critical addition. This line is set to reduce travel time, decongest roads, and promote the use of eco-friendly transportation in densely populated areas.
