8 January, 2025; The eagerly awaited Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project marked another milestone today as the final speed trials were conducted on the Katra-Banihal section. This critical phase, conducted under the mandatory supervision of the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), brings the ambitious rail link project closer to operational readiness.
The trials were carried out on two iconic engineering marvels: the Anji Rail Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge, and the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge. Anji Rail Bridge: India’s First Cable-Stayed Bridge

Spanning the mighty Chenab River at an incredible height of 359 meters, the Chenab Rail Bridge is a marvel of engineering excellence.
