26 January, 2025;India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day today with grandeur and patriotic fervor. The centerpiece of the celebrations is the grand parade held on the iconic Kartavya Path in New Delhi, showcasing the country’s military strength, cultural diversity, and technological advancements. This year’s event carries special significance as it marks the platinum jubilee of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, a milestone in the nation’s democratic journey.
The parade began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute to the martyrs at the National War Memorial, followed by the unfurling of the national flag by President Droupadi Murmu. The national anthem resonated across the venue, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings.
The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force presented a synchronized and awe-inspiring display of their prowess, with their contingents marching in perfect harmony. Advanced weaponry, including the indigenous Arjun Main Battle Tank, BrahMos missiles, and Tejas fighter jets, took center stage, highlighting India’s self-reliance in defense manufacturing. The parade also featured tableaux from various states and union territories, each depicting their unique cultural heritage and achievements.
This year’s chief guest was President Emmanuel Macron of France, symbolizing the deepening ties between India and France. The presence of foreign dignitaries underscored India’s growing influence on the global stage.
One of the major highlights of the parade was the participation of women officers in key roles, reflecting the country’s commitment to gender equality in the armed forces. The all-women contingents of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Indian Coast Guard received thunderous applause from the audience.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere was a spectacular flypast by the Indian Air Force, featuring a mix of vintage aircraft and cutting-edge fighter jets. The sight of Sukhoi-30MKIs and Rafales performing aerobatic maneuvers left the crowd spellbound.
In his address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the importance of upholding constitutional values and working collectively towards a more inclusive and prosperous India. She also paid homage to the freedom fighters and visionaries who laid the foundation of the Republic.
As the parade concluded, a sense of pride and unity filled the air, reminding citizens of the progress India has made since becoming a Republic in 1950. The celebrations continue to inspire hope and determination, reinforcing the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India).
