Baba Ramdev on Mahamandleshwar Practices and Sanatan Values: A Call for Preservation of Tradition

Prayagraj – Renowned yoga guru Baba Ramdev has expressed his concerns over the growing trend of individuals taking up the title of Mahamandleshwar and the rising influence of modern practices that he believes deviate from traditional values. Speaking in Prayagraj, Baba Ramdev highlighted the importance of adhering to the ethos of Sanatan Dharma and preserving its sacred festivals and traditions.

Addressing a gathering, he remarked, “It’s not good that anyone is becoming Mahamandleshwar; also it’s not good to spread vulgarity through reels.” The yoga guru criticized the trend of certain social media practices, particularly reels, which he believes often promote content that is inconsistent with the principles of Sanatan Dharma.

Baba Ramdev further emphasized the eternal nature of Sanatan values, likening them to elemental forces. “The way earth, fire, moon, and sun are eternal – are Sanatan – we need to preserve our festivals as per the values of Sanatan,” he stated, underlining the importance of retaining cultural and spiritual heritage in an era of modernization.

This statement comes amidst increasing debates about the interpretation and representation of traditional practices in contemporary society. Baba Ramdev, known for his advocacy of yoga and Ayurveda, has often voiced his opinions on cultural preservation and moral values.

In recent times, the title of Mahamandleshwar, a revered position within Hindu monastic traditions, has seen a surge in aspirants. Critics like Baba Ramdev caution against diminishing the sanctity of such titles, urging for a more sincere and disciplined approach to spiritual leadership.

His remarks have sparked conversations on how modern media and practices influence traditional values, with many supporting his call for preserving cultural purity while others advocate for a balance between tradition and contemporary expression.

Baba Ramdev’s appeal serves as a reminder of the delicate interplay between ancient traditions and evolving societal norms. His emphasis on the eternal nature of Sanatan principles reiterates the need for a grounded approach to preserving India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
