New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Rajeev Shukla has strongly criticized the Election Commission, alleging that it is not functioning with honesty and fairness. He claimed that the Commission has consistently ignored complaints raised by the opposition, raising concerns over the integrity of the electoral process.
Speaking on the issue, Shukla stated, “The whole country is saying that the Election Commission is not working honestly. Everyone knows that it does not pay attention to any complaint from the opposition. Fake voters are being created openly.”
Highlighting a specific instance, he alleged that a staggering 82 lakh voters were added in Maharashtra within just two months, suggesting that such a sharp increase was politically motivated. He pointed out that the seats where voter numbers surged disproportionately were the same ones where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victories, raising suspicions of electoral manipulation.
Furthermore, Shukla accused the Election Commission of turning a blind eye to the illegal distribution of money during elections, stating that such activities were happening openly. “The Election Commission is not able to see that money is being distributed openly,” he remarked.
His comments add to the growing concerns among opposition parties, who have frequently accused the Election Commission of favoritism and inaction against alleged electoral malpractices. As the political climate heats up ahead of the upcoming elections, these allegations are likely to fuel further debates on the transparency and credibility of India’s electoral system.
