The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant arrest on Thursday concerning the March 2023 attack on the Indian High Commission in London, according to a recent statement. Inderpal Singh Gaba, a Hounslow resident, was apprehended for engaging in unlawful activities during pro-Khalistani protests in London on March 22, 2023.
Investigations by the NIA have uncovered that the March 19 and March 22 incidents were linked to a broader plot aimed at launching severe attacks against Indian diplomatic facilities and personnel.
The agency noted that these attacks were a response to measures taken by Punjab Police against pro-Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh on March 18, 2023. Following an intense manhunt, Punjab Police captured the 29-year-old separatist at a gurdwara in Rode in April 2023 under the stringent National Security Act. This arrest followed an incident in February 2023, where Singh’s supporters had overrun the Ajnala police station to demand the release of a detained colleague.
The investigation into these linked events continues, as stated by the NIA.
