MAY 15; Lok Sabha Election Updates: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently suggested that India would respond appropriately if threatened with nuclear action by Pakistan. This statement follows comments from Mani Shankar Aiyar, who mentioned that India should ‘respect’ Pakistan due to its nuclear capabilities. In contrast, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party government should highlight its developmental achievements over the past decade rather than engaging in divisive topics like ‘mangalsutra’ and ‘mutton-chicken’. Kharge pointed out, “Hindu-Muslim issues are his focus, not ours.”
This response was triggered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks in a News18 interview, asserting his commitment to avoid communal division. When questioned about the Muslim vote, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that all citizens, regardless of religion, would support him, stating, “The moment I start segregating by religion, I would no longer deserve a place in public life. I am firmly against creating Hindu-Muslim divisions.”
Further stirring the conversation, CM Yogi Adityanath commented on the nuclear threat posed by Pakistan, questioning rhetorically, “If Pakistan has nuclear bombs, are we supposed to store ours in the fridge?” This was in response to statements by some leaders from the INDI alliance about the nuclear capabilities of Pakistan.
