CM Yogi Adityanath Addresses Uttar Pradesh BJP Working Committee: Emphasizes Regulatory Celebrations of Muharram

Lucknow: In a recent meeting of the Uttar Pradesh BJP Working Committee, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made significant remarks regarding the celebration of Muharram in the state. The Chief Minister highlighted the changes in the way Muharram is observed today compared to previous years, stressing the importance of adhering to regulations during religious festivities.

“Remember, during Muharram, the roads used to be empty. Today, Muharram is being celebrated, it is not even known,” stated CM Yogi Adityanath, reflecting on how the visibility and impact of the festival on public life have diminished over time. He emphasized that in the past, the observance of Muharram led to considerable disruptions, including the demolition of houses for Tajia processions, the cutting of peepal trees, and the removal of wires from roads to facilitate the event.

The Chief Minister underscored a shift in the government’s approach, prioritizing the protection of the underprivileged and maintaining public order. “Today it is said that no poor person’s hut will be removed,” he asserted, indicating a more compassionate stance towards vulnerable populations who might be affected by the festivities.

Further, CM Yogi Adityanath called for the regulation of religious celebrations, urging adherence to government rules to ensure that public life is not disrupted. “The government will make rules, if you want to celebrate the festival, then celebrate it under the rules, otherwise sit at home,” he declared, emphasizing the need for structured and rule-bound observance of festivals to prevent chaos and ensure safety.

The statements by the Chief Minister reflect his administration’s commitment to balancing the celebration of religious events with public order and safety. This approach aims to minimize disruptions while ensuring that traditions and cultural practices can be observed within a framework that respects the rights and well-being of all citizens.

As Uttar Pradesh continues to evolve under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, such measures are likely to play a crucial role in maintaining harmony and order in the state during religious and cultural festivities.
