Government’s Pro-Farmer Policies Yield Positive Results in Agriculture: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently praised the efforts of the Indian government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting significant strides made in improving the conditions for farmers across the country. Speaking about the government’s recent initiatives, Chouhan emphasized that over the last 120 days, several decisions have been taken to benefit farmers, particularly in ensuring they receive better prices for their produce.

“In the last 120 days, the government, which is dedicated to farmers, has taken many decisions in the interest of farmers under the leadership of PM Modi. These decisions are part of our commitment to empowering the agricultural sector and providing long-term sustainability for those who depend on it,” Chouhan said.

One of the critical steps taken, according to the minister, has been aimed at boosting the production of oilseeds. Recognizing the importance of oilseed crops in both domestic and international markets, the government has introduced measures to ensure that farmers cultivating these crops receive better support and improved returns. Chouhan noted that this move has had a significant impact on the overall output of oilseeds, contributing to higher production and better market prices for farmers.

Oilseeds, which include crops like mustard, groundnut, and sunflower, are a key component of India’s agricultural landscape. Ensuring robust production of these crops is essential not only for farmers but also for reducing the country’s reliance on imported edible oils. With rising demand for oils and oilseeds, this initiative has provided much-needed relief to farmers by ensuring a profitable market for their produce.

Chouhan further added that these efforts are part of a broader strategy by the Modi government to ensure that agriculture remains a lucrative and sustainable livelihood. He highlighted the government’s commitment to doubling farmers’ income and mentioned other key initiatives like providing better irrigation facilities, crop insurance schemes, and subsidies on fertilizers.

The minister’s comments reflect the government’s ongoing focus on rural development and agricultural growth. By prioritizing farmers and introducing policies aimed at ensuring better market access and fair prices, the government hopes to create a more resilient agricultural sector, one that not only feeds the nation but also strengthens the economy.

These initiatives, coupled with reforms in the agricultural sector, underline the Modi government’s dedication to transforming India’s agrarian landscape, making it more modern, productive, and beneficial for the millions who depend on it.
