Strengthening Bilateral Ties: Dr. S. Jaishankar Meets Argentina’s Foreign Minister Diana Mondino

New Delhi, [Date] – In a significant diplomatic engagement, India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with Argentina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Diana Mondino, in New Delhi. The meeting marked an important step in reinforcing the ties between India and Argentina, with discussions focusing on enhancing trade, economic collaboration, and bilateral diplomacy.

Welcoming Mondino to India, Dr. Jaishankar acknowledged her visit as a positive step in furthering relations between the two countries. Reflecting on their last meeting in Munich earlier this year, he expressed his pleasure at being able to continue their dialogue in person.

“This is your first visit, and I remember our last meeting, which was in Munich earlier this year. I am very glad that yesterday we had the opportunity to have a very insightful and useful session with the business delegation. I thank you for bringing them,” said Dr. Jaishankar.

The ministers’ discussions centered on economic cooperation, particularly in light of the business delegation accompanying the Argentinian Foreign Minister. Dr. Jaishankar highlighted the importance of fostering stronger commercial ties, appreciating Argentina’s participation in the Voice of the Global South Summit, an important forum focused on amplifying the voices of developing nations.

Dr. Jaishankar also recognized the milestone of 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Argentina. Over these decades, the two nations have developed a robust relationship that spans across trade, cultural exchange, and diplomatic cooperation. However, he acknowledged that bilateral trade had experienced a slight dip in recent times but expressed optimism about restoring trade levels.

“I think economically trade has been good. We have had a slight decline, but we hope to bring it back to earlier levels,” Dr. Jaishankar stated. He further committed to leading a business delegation to Argentina soon, showing India’s dedication to deepening economic ties with the South American nation.

The meeting between Dr. Jaishankar and Minister Mondino symbolizes the shared vision of both countries to expand their partnership across various sectors. From economic growth to strategic collaboration, the dialogue reaffirmed India’s and Argentina’s commitment to mutual progress on the global stage.

With Argentina’s emerging role in the global economy and India’s standing as a leading voice in the Global South, this diplomatic engagement sets the stage for enhanced cooperation and future growth in trade, investment, and geopolitical collaboration.
