Ghaziabad, UP – Commenting on the Haryana election results, spiritual leader and political commentator Acharya Pramod Krishnam expressed sharp criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s role in the party’s performance. In his statement on October 8, 2024, Krishnam suggested that had Rahul Gandhi not participated in the campaign, senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda would have been the state’s Chief Minister.
“Had Rahul Gandhi not campaigned in elections, Bhupinder Hooda would have become the Chief Minister. People are not liking the language used by Rahul Gandhi,” Krishnam remarked. He specifically pointed to Gandhi’s controversial statements and ideological stance, which he believes alienated a significant portion of voters.
Krishnam cited several instances where Gandhi’s remarks allegedly offended public sentiments, particularly his opposition to Sanatana Dharma and his comments regarding the Ram Mandir. “He opposes Sanatana, he says ‘naach gaana’ is happening at Ram Mandir. This ‘naach gaana’ remark and the statement about Ayodhya losing hurt people’s sentiments. Opposing Sanatana, supporting Leftists, and consuming chicken and mutton during Navaratri caused damage to the party in the final hours,” Krishnam added.
He further disclosed that he had advised Bhupinder Hooda to avoid involving Rahul Gandhi in the election campaign. “I had told Hooda ji once to not call Rahul Gandhi for election campaigning. But what can be done?” Krishnam lamented.
According to Krishnam, the election results are a victory for Sanatana Dharma, and he emphasized that Sanatana can never be defeated, despite political challenges. “Haryana’s victory is a victory of Sanatana. Sanatana can never lose.”
Krishnam’s remarks underline the deep ideological divides within the Congress party, where leaders like Bhupinder Hooda represent a more traditional outlook, while others like Rahul Gandhi are seen as progressive but often controversial. This internal rift may have contributed to the party’s struggles in states like Haryana, where cultural and religious sensitivities play a significant role in electoral politics.
The Haryana elections saw a tough contest, but Krishnam’s comments suggest that the involvement of national leaders like Gandhi, with their more liberal or secular stance, may have hindered the chances of Congress at the state level, where local dynamics differ significantly from national politics.
