Imphal, October 2024: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed deep appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to the development of the northeastern region, especially highlighting a recent initiative to establish a new healthcare facility in Manipur. Singh acknowledged the foundation stone laying for this unit, valued at approximately Rs 16 crore, and praised the Prime Minister for prioritizing healthcare and welfare in Manipur and beyond.
“It is not just about the financial investment but the recognition and support that the Prime Minister has consistently shown toward Manipur and other northeastern states,” Singh said. “We truly appreciate the focus he has placed on the northeast, as it reflects his inclusive approach toward national development.”
Singh also emphasized the positive impact of the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme, which PM Modi recently expanded. Under this initiative, citizens aged 70 and above across India will be provided healthcare coverage worth Rs 5 lakh. Singh noted that the Ayushman Bharat scheme will benefit senior citizens in particular, offering them essential medical coverage and financial security during a crucial stage of life.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that such healthcare projects, coupled with the expanded benefits under Ayushman Bharat, will contribute to improving the quality of life for residents in the region. “This is a significant step in providing necessary medical services and reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to the welfare of people across the country, especially in areas like Manipur,” he added.
Singh’s remarks underscore the progress that the northeastern states have seen in recent years under central government initiatives, with the Prime Minister frequently spotlighting the unique needs and cultural significance of this region. The new healthcare unit will play a critical role in enhancing the local healthcare infrastructure, addressing long-standing challenges, and creating a foundation for better health services in Manipur.
