29 October, 2024;In a significant boost to healthcare access and transportation in Uttarakhand, heliservices commenced today at the helipad of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh. The launch event was attended by prominent leaders and officials, including Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, and the Director of AIIMS, along with the dedicated heli bus service team. This new initiative is expected to enhance transportation and medical connectivity in the region.
The heliservice at AIIMS Rishikesh will provide an efficient and reliable transport option for patients in need of critical care, allowing swift travel from remote and challenging terrains to the medical institute. The facility is also expected to strengthen medical infrastructure and improve emergency response times, aligning with the state’s mission to make healthcare accessible even in the most remote parts of Uttarakhand.
In addition to the heliservice, the event also marked the launch of a new drone delivery service dedicated to transporting essential medical supplies to areas that are difficult to reach via traditional road transport. This innovative drone service will carry medicines and other critical healthcare supplies, addressing the needs of remote villages and communities across Uttarakhand. The drone program will help save time and reduce the barriers that geography often imposes, ensuring that life-saving medications reach those in need without delay.
This dual approach of combining heliservices and drone-based delivery systems is a progressive step toward a comprehensive healthcare model that prioritizes accessibility and efficiency. The state government, alongside AIIMS Rishikesh, aims to scale up these services and potentially set a benchmark for healthcare logistics in other mountainous regions of the country.
