Jamia Millia Islamia Shifts to Online Classes Amid Air Quality Concerns

19 November, 2024;In light of the deteriorating air quality in Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia University has announced a temporary shift to online classes. This precautionary measure is aimed at ensuring the health and safety of students and staff as pollution levels in the capital have reached alarming levels.

According to the university’s official statement, all classes will be conducted in an online mode until Saturday, 23rd November 2024. Regular physical classes are scheduled to resume from Monday, 25th November 2024. Despite the temporary closure of on-campus teaching, the schedule for examinations and interviews remains unaffected and will proceed as planned.

Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) has been hovering in the “severe” category over the past few days, prompting schools, colleges, and institutions across the city to take measures to protect students from the hazardous pollution. Authorities at Jamia Millia Islamia reiterated their commitment to prioritizing the well-being of the university community while ensuring minimal disruption to the academic calendar.

Students have been advised to monitor official university communications for updates and to take necessary precautions against the adverse effects of pollution during this period.
