23 November, 2024; Union Home Minister Amit Shah has hailed the Mahayuti alliance for its resounding victory in the recent Maharashtra elections. Taking to social media, Shah attributed the landslide win to the “politics of performance” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that this triumph is a reflection of the people’s trust in the double-engine government, which focuses on development, governance, and the welfare of the poor.
Shah highlighted that the people of Maharashtra have decisively rejected the politics of appeasement and divisiveness. Instead, they have reposed faith in the legacy of development and inclusive growth championed by the Mahayuti. “This mandate reaffirms that under PM Modi’s visionary leadership, the politics of development triumphs over all,” he wrote.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has planned a grand celebration at its headquarters in New Delhi to commemorate this significant achievement. The Shiv Sena faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also played a crucial role in the alliance’s success. Notably, Shinde’s Shiv Sena performed exceptionally well, securing more seats than the entire opposition bloc, the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA).
The Mahayuti’s victory is being seen as a major political milestone in Maharashtra, reinforcing the dominance of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in one of India’s most politically significant states. Analysts have pointed out that the double-engine government’s focus on infrastructure, rural development, and welfare schemes has resonated with voters, leading to this overwhelming mandate.
As the BJP and its allies gear up for celebrations, the victory is also being viewed as a morale booster ahead of upcoming elections in other states, reaffirming the strength of the Modi-Shah leadership duo in shaping electoral outcomes.
