30 November, 2024; In a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia alleged that AAP leaders are deeply involved in criminal activities, including extortion. During a press conference, Bhatia claimed that AAP has transformed into a “party of goons,” accusing it of fostering a nexus with gangsters and threatening the common man.
Bhatia specifically targeted AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, alleging that an audio clip surfaced wherein Balyan was purportedly heard conspiring with a gangster to extort money from a builder. Bhatia stated, “With the consent of Arvind Kejriwal, AAP MLAs are running an extortion racket. Gangsters are their biggest supporters, openly threatening the public and extorting money under the party’s protection.”
The BJP leader did not hold back, accusing the AAP government of being mired in various scandals, including the widely discussed liquor scam. He asserted, “The public did not elect you (AAP) to engage in liquor scams and extortion businesses. AAP has betrayed the trust of the people who believed in their promises of clean governance.”
The allegations come at a time when AAP is already facing criticism over several controversies. The BJP has consistently targeted AAP, claiming that its promise of a corruption-free and transparent government has been overshadowed by scandals and misconduct.
Bhatia called upon the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations and hold those responsible accountable. He further demanded an explanation from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on the involvement of his party members in criminal activities.
Meanwhile, AAP has yet to issue an official statement addressing the allegations. The party has previously dismissed such accusations as baseless and politically motivated, maintaining that they are attempts by rival parties to tarnish its image.
The matter has sparked a political war of words between the BJP and AAP, with both sides accusing each other of corruption and mismanagement. The public now awaits further developments as authorities are expected to verify the authenticity of the audio clip and investigate the claims.
