AAP leader Sanjay Singh spoke to his supporters outside Tihar Jail after his release. The Supreme Court allowed Sanjay Singh, a member of the Rajya Sabha from the AAP, to leave jail on bail in a case about money laundering connected to a scam in Delhi’s liquor policy. This happened after the agency in charge of investigating financial crimes said they didn’t mind his release. Singh, who had been in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, was freed on Wednesday evening, one day after getting bail.
On Tuesday, the court decided Singh could be released on bail after hearing that the Enforcement Directorate, which deals with financial crimes, was okay with it. Singh had to go to the hospital on Tuesday for a liver problem but got out today.
Outside Tihar Jail, Singh told his supporters that now is not the time for celebration but for struggle. He mentioned that other senior AAP members like Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendar Jain, and Manish Sisodia are still in jail but expressed hope that they would be released soon. After getting out, Singh visited the home of Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to see his wife, Sunita Kejriwal. The Chief Minister is also in Tihar Jail because of the liquor policy case.
Singh’s father, Dinesh Singh, called his son’s release a “special moment” for the family and the party. Sanjay Singh said that AAP was created from a movement and is fearless. He questioned the reasons behind the jailing of AAP leaders, stating their aim was to provide good education, free pilgrimages for the elderly, and free water to Delhi’s people. He emphasized that everyone in AAP stands with their leader, Arvind Kejriwal.
