Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Welcomes Champai Soren to BJP, Extends Personal Invitations

Ranchi, Jharkhand – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made headlines during his recent visit to Ranchi, Jharkhand, where he personally extended a warm welcome to Champai Soren, a prominent leader from Jharkhand, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This move has sparked significant political interest, particularly in the northeastern and eastern regions of India.

Speaking to the media in Ranchi, Sarma shared the purpose of his visit, stating, “Yesterday, Champai Soren joined the BJP, so I thought I should go and wish him personally. I came here in the morning and had a conversation with him.” The Chief Minister’s gesture highlights the importance the BJP places on its new member, emphasizing the strategic significance of Soren’s induction into the party.

Champai Soren, who has a strong political presence in Jharkhand, is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the BJP’s influence in the state. His decision to join the party is seen as a boost for the BJP as it continues to expand its footprint across various regions of India.

In addition to welcoming Soren into the BJP fold, Chief Minister Sarma extended personal invitations to him. “I have invited Champai Soren to Assam. I have also invited him to visit and worship at the Maa Kamakhya Temple and have a meal at my house,” Sarma added. The Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered Shakti Peethas in India, holds significant cultural and religious importance, and the invitation to visit the temple is seen as a gesture of camaraderie and goodwill.

Sarma’s visit to Ranchi underscores the BJP’s efforts to consolidate its position in Jharkhand, a state where political dynamics are continuously evolving. Champai Soren’s induction into the BJP is likely to have implications for the upcoming electoral strategies of the party, both in Jharkhand and beyond.

As the BJP continues to make inroads into different regions, such personal outreach by senior leaders like Himanta Biswa Sarma reflects the party’s commitment to building strong, diverse leadership across the country.
