Jammu, 8 October, 2024 – As the results of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections continue to come in, Union Minister Jitendra Singh has hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) performance as its best so far in the region. Addressing the media, Singh emphasized that the party’s victory was rooted in its focus on development, inclusivity, and welfare for all, transcending barriers of caste, creed, and religion.
Singh confirmed that the BJP had already secured 29 seats and expressed confidence that the party would win even more as the counting progressed. “This has been BJP’s best performance so far,” Singh remarked. “We contested this election purely on the issue of development, and we tried to rise above caste, creed, and religion. We have given a new culture to this election.”
In a statement that underlined the BJP’s focus on inclusive development, Singh highlighted the government’s various welfare schemes, which he claimed reached every citizen in Jammu & Kashmir, regardless of their religious background. The Union Minister contrasted the BJP’s approach with that of the opposition, particularly the INDIA bloc, accusing them of attempting to polarize the electorate.
“The INDIA bloc tried to polarize the elections, but we contested inclusively,” Singh said. He praised the BJP’s commitment to the welfare of every individual in the Union Territory, suggesting that this approach had played a key role in the party’s electoral success.
Singh also took aim at the Congress party, stating that it had been “swept out” not only in Jammu & Kashmir but also in Haryana. In J&K, Congress contested only five seats, winning just two, according to Singh. He noted that the BJP’s main competition was against Congress, and expressed satisfaction that the national political trend in favor of the BJP had continued in J&K.
“This election shows the strength of the BJP’s developmental agenda and our ability to connect with people across all sections of society,” Singh added, concluding his remarks with optimism about the party’s future prospects.
