BJP MP Raghunandan Rao Demands Removal of Illegal Compound Walls in Sangareddy, Telangana

17 January, 2025; Sangareddy, Telangana: In a significant development, BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Raghunandan Rao has made a strong statement regarding the construction of illegal compound walls in agricultural lands in the Sangareddy district. According to the MP, the Telangana High Court had previously ruled in favor of the local villagers, stating that there should be no interference in their peaceful agricultural lands. However, Rao alleges that the situation took a turn for the worse after the Sankranti holidays began on January 9th, 2025.

Raghunandan Rao accused the police, in alleged collusion with private parties, of building compound walls on the disputed land during the holiday period. The MP claimed that the construction was carried out by realtors and builders, who were reportedly working with certain elements of the Telangana government, specifically Congress leaders, with the intent to create a land dispute.

In a passionate appeal, Raghunandan Rao demanded that the district revenue authorities take immediate action to remove the two compound walls. He gave the authorities a strict 24-hour deadline to clear the illegal constructions, emphasizing that the land should be returned to the villagers who were in rightful possession of it before the walls were built.

The BJP MP’s statement has sparked considerable controversy, with accusations of political manipulation over valuable agricultural land. Rao has further called on the Telangana High Court and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana to intervene and ensure the illegal constructions are dismantled, thus restoring the villagers’ rightful ownership.

The situation has highlighted the ongoing tensions over land ownership in the region, with allegations of political involvement and land grabbing intensifying. As the 24-hour deadline approaches, all eyes are on the district authorities and whether they will act on the MP’s demands.

This development marks a critical moment in the ongoing land disputes in Telangana, with both legal and political ramifications. The outcome of this case could have far-reaching effects, not only for the residents of Sangareddy but also for land policy in the state.
