26 October, 2024;In a significant anti-drug operation, Border Security Force (BSF) troops recovered two drones and two packets of heroin in three separate incidents along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Amritsar district. Acting on intelligence from the BSF’s intelligence wing, these discoveries highlight the ongoing efforts to curb the trafficking of illegal substances and the use of drones for cross-border smuggling.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the BSF Punjab Frontier confirmed that the first incident involved the detection of a suspicious drone, which was promptly seized. Shortly afterward, another drone and heroin packets were recovered in two separate incidents in the same vicinity. These seizures underscore the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence gathering and the vigilance of BSF personnel patrolling the area.
The increased use of drones in drug trafficking operations has raised security concerns, as smugglers continue to employ high-tech methods to breach the border. The BSF has been vigilant in countering this trend, deploying advanced surveillance techniques and continuously monitoring border activities to prevent illicit smuggling.
The PRO emphasized that the BSF remains committed to safeguarding the nation’s borders and preventing the influx of narcotics, which pose a serious threat to society. Regular intelligence-sharing and rapid response initiatives are part of an intensified security strategy aimed at intercepting and dismantling such operations along the Punjab border.
