US Ambassador Eric Garcetti recently lauded India’s promising future and the potential for increased collaboration between the two countries in an address in Delhi. During his speech at the event “Impact & Innovation: 25 Years of Making Development a Ground Reality” hosted by IPE Global, Ambassador Garcetti highlighted India as a pivotal nation for shaping the future. “If you’re looking towards the future, look towards India. I am honored to engage with this potential daily as the head of the US Mission,” he remarked.
Emphasizing the essence of the partnership between the United States and India, Garcetti noted that the approach of the Biden administration is one of mutual learning and listening, rather than dictating terms. This sentiment underscores the reciprocal flow of ideas and cooperative initiatives that mark US-India relations.
These comments arrive at a time when India is expected to witness an 8 percent growth rate in the fiscal year 2024, surpassing previous government predictions, largely due to boosts in the industry and service sectors. Additionally, the strengthening ties between the US and India across various sectors, including defense and technology, and through alliances such as the Quad and I2U2, signify a deepening bilateral relationship.
In parallel, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan pointed out the elevation of the US-India partnership, particularly in technology and security, as a sign of reaching new heights. Addressing a White House press conference, Sullivan responded to inquiries regarding the perception of diminishing American global leadership, especially with countries like Iran, Egypt, UAE, Ethiopia joining BRICS, and Saudi Arabia considering membership. Sullivan expressed confidence in the US’s role and its relationships across significant global regions, suggesting a robust stance despite the evolving international dynamics.
