Rishikesh, Uttarakhand – Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat recently visited AIIMS Rishikesh to meet the victims injured in the tragic bus accident that took place in Almora. The incident, which has left the entire state in shock, occurred when a passenger bus met with a severe accident, resulting in multiple injuries and loss of life.
At AIIMS Rishikesh, Rawat spent time interacting with the injured passengers and their families, expressing his sympathy and solidarity. He enquired about the medical attention and facilities being provided to the injured, while assuring families of all possible support. Rawat also spoke with the hospital staff and doctors to understand the medical treatments being administered to the victims, expressing gratitude to the healthcare team for their prompt response.
Speaking to the media after his visit, Harish Rawat expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. He called for a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident, emphasizing the need for stricter road safety measures in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand to prevent such incidents in the future. “The pain of those affected by this accident is unimaginable, and it is the duty of both the government and us as citizens to support them in every way possible,” he said.
The Congress leader also highlighted the importance of improving transportation safety and emergency response systems in mountainous areas, where road accidents are frequently reported.
