Haridwar Hosts Grand ‘Shastraotsav’ Celebrating Sanskrit Scholars

21 March, 2025; Haridwar, Uttarakhand – A remarkable gathering of over 1,000 Sanskrit scholars from India and abroad took place at the Central Sanskrit University and Patanjali University in Haridwar. The prestigious event, known as ‘Shastraotsav’, celebrated India’s rich Sanskrit heritage and its glorious traditions.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami graced the occasion and expressed his pride in hosting such a significant cultural and academic festival in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. He highlighted the importance of Sanskrit in preserving the nation’s historical and philosophical roots.

“Today, more than 1,000 Sanskrit scholars from India and abroad have come here at the Central Sanskrit University and Patanjali University. A very wonderful ‘Shastraotsav’ program has been organized here. They participated in many competitions in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and will work to introduce the whole world to our glorious tradition. I congratulate the Central Sanskrit University and Patanjali University on my behalf,” said CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The festival featured various competitions and intellectual discussions centered on ancient scriptures, philosophy, and the spiritual essence of Sanskrit literature. Scholars, students, and enthusiasts engaged in debates and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at promoting the timeless wisdom embedded in Sanskrit texts.

The Shastraotsav served as a platform to reinforce India’s commitment to preserving and promoting Sanskrit, which is often referred to as the language of knowledge and enlightenment. Through such initiatives, institutions like Central Sanskrit University and Patanjali University continue to uphold India’s cultural legacy, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots.
