Latur, Maharashtra: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed strong optimism regarding the Congress party’s prospects in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Speaking at an event in Latur, Shivakumar predicted a decisive victory for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the coalition comprising the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Shiv Sena (UBT).
“We are confident that Congress will come to power with a thumping majority. The people of the state will elect the MVA with 175 seats,” said Shivakumar. He further assured that the coalition, if voted into power, would provide a government committed to good governance and progressive policies.
Shivakumar’s statement underscores the Congress’s growing confidence in Maharashtra amidst ongoing political shifts. The state has witnessed significant developments, including internal rifts within the NCP and Shiv Sena, leading to realignments in the political landscape. However, the MVA appears united in its opposition to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Maharashtra.
The Deputy CM also emphasized the coalition’s focus on addressing pressing issues such as inflation, unemployment, and farmers’ welfare, which resonate with voters across the state.
This statement comes at a time when the Congress is riding high on recent electoral successes in Karnataka, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh, boosting morale across party lines. Shivakumar’s confidence in replicating Karnataka’s electoral success in Maharashtra highlights the party’s strategic focus on strengthening regional alliances and consolidating anti-incumbency sentiments.
The upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections will be crucial in shaping the state’s political trajectory and determining the future of the MVA alliance. As the campaign unfolds, all eyes will be on the Congress-led coalition to see if they can turn their ambitious projections into reality.
