New Delhi: Prominent political leaders gathered at the Samvidhan Sadan (formerly the Old Parliament Building) on Sunday to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The occasion was marked by floral tributes to honor her contributions to the nation.

Among those present were Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Several other senior leaders and parliamentarians also participated in the solemn ceremony, reflecting on Indira Gandhi’s legacy as one of India’s most influential leaders.

Indira Gandhi, who served as the Prime Minister of India for over 15 years across two terms, is remembered for her decisive leadership and transformative policies. Under her leadership, India achieved significant milestones, including the Green Revolution and the 1971 victory in the Bangladesh Liberation War.

Speaking at the event, Congress leaders emphasized her indomitable spirit and her enduring impact on India’s socio-political fabric. Rahul Gandhi remarked on her dedication to serving the people and her resolve in overcoming challenges during her tenure.
