On Monday, the licensing authority in Uttarakhand suspended the manufacturing licenses of 14 products from Patanjali, including 13 from its subsidiary, Divya Yoga Pharmacy, citing cases of misleading advertisements. An affidavit was filed in the Supreme Court by the authority confirming the suspension of these licenses due to the misleading advertisements issue.

The products from Divya Yoga Pharmacy impacted by this decision include:

  • Drishti Eye Drop
  • Swasari Gold
  • Swasari Vati
  • Bronchom
  • Swasari Pravahi
  • Swasari Avaleh
  • Mukta Vati Extra Power
  • Lipidom
  • Bp Grit
  • Madhugrit
  • Madhunashini Vati Extra Power
  • Livamrit Advance

This action is part of broader legal challenges faced by Baba Ramdev’s businesses, which have been accused of making false claims about their traditional Ayurvedic products. The Supreme Court has criticized Baba Ramdev for not adhering to its directives in an ongoing case that aims to curb misleading advertisements for certain Ayurvedic medicines.

In a separate but related matter, on February 27, the court served a contempt notice to Baba Ramdev and his associate Acharya Balkrishna for issuing misleading advertisements claiming health benefits and prohibited Patanjali from advertising products that allegedly cure diseases like heart conditions and asthma without proof. Following this, Patanjali Ayurveda apologized on April 22, promising to avoid such missteps in the future.

During a court session on April 23, the Supreme Court questioned Ramdev about the prominence of his apology compared to his advertisements. Subsequently, on April 24, a new public apology was issued by Patanjali Ayurveda’s co-founders, Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna.
