19 November, 2024; With six parties competing in a high-stakes Maharashtra election, the BJP is optimistic about the Mahayuti alliance securing a resounding victory.
“BJP will emerge as the single-largest party with a three-digit seat count, and the Mahayuti will comfortably surpass the 150-seat mark,” a senior BJP leader from Maharashtra told CNN-News18. The party’s internal assessment points to a clear majority for the alliance.
A key factor driving BJP’s confidence is the 76 constituencies where the party faces the Congress in direct contests. BJP leaders predict winning over 50 of these seats. Congress is contesting 102 seats overall, with 76 of them directly against BJP. “The higher BJP’s strike rate in these contests, the more Congress will struggle to make gains,” explained multiple BJP insiders.
The BJP is contesting 152 seats, with several additional candidates fielded under the banners of its alliance partners, further bolstering the Mahayuti’s prospects.
