Born on October 11, 1985, in New York City, Trachtenberg began her acting career at the age of three, appearing in commercials. She gained early recognition for her role as Nona Mecklenberg on Nickelodeon’s “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” (1994–1996). Her breakthrough came with the title role in the 1996 film “Harriet the Spy.” She later portrayed Dawn Summers, the younger sister of the protagonist in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (2000–2003), earning her critical acclaim and a Young Artist Award.
In 2008, Trachtenberg took on the role of Georgina Sparks in the popular series “Gossip Girl,” a character she portrayed throughout the show’s run until 2012.
