6 November, 2024; Panic swept through Meera Bagh’s Raj Mandir Market in West Delhi on Tuesday afternoon when multiple rounds of gunfire were heard around 2:30 pm. The firing took place at an outlet known as Raj Mandir, where several shots were reportedly fired.
According to police sources, the attack is believed to be linked to an extortion attempt. The owners of the showroom had reportedly been threatened by notorious gangster Kapil Sagwan, also known as Nandu, who is allegedly involved with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This group is known for its extortion tactics and violent methods, and authorities suspect that the firing was part of a bid to intimidate the business owner into complying with their demands.
The situation caused widespread fear and distress among the market’s visitors, with many rushing to safety as the sound of gunshots echoed through the area. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining security footage to identify the perpetrators and understand the full scope of the extortion scheme.
The firing in broad daylight underscores the growing concerns over the increasing influence of criminal gangs in various parts of Delhi. Local authorities are working to ensure the safety of the public and take stern action against those involved in such acts of violence.
