Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh –Correction: Uttar Pradesh: Aspirants in Prayagraj held a protest against the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). They demanded to conduct the PCS and RO/ARO exams in one day and one shift. A gathering of students in Prayagraj today prompted police officials to request the crowd to shift to an authorized protest area. The students had assembled to voice their demands on various issues, seeking attention from the administration. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Bharti addressed the situation, encouraging the students to adopt a peaceful and democratic approach.
“Some students have gathered here who want to keep their demands. The students have been requested to move to the designated protest site,” said DCP Bharti. He assured them that their concerns would be acknowledged and heard if they followed the established norms. “We have asked them to protest in a democratic way. They have been assured that their demands will be heard,” he added.
The students’ concerns and demands have yet to be fully clarified, but similar gatherings in the region have previously focused on educational reforms, employment opportunities, and improvements in administrative services.
The DCP’s response reflects an approach aimed at balancing the rights of citizens to protest with maintaining public order. By relocating the students to a designated area, the police hope to minimize disruptions while ensuring the protest can proceed in a lawful and organized manner.
