13 April, 2025; In a sharp political attack, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann raised serious concerns over the recent statements made by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa regarding alleged bomb threats in the state. CM Mann questioned the source of Bajwa’s information, implying a potential connection to foreign elements, including Pakistan.
Addressing the media, CM Mann said, “If Partap Singh Bajwa, the Leader of Opposition, had specific details about bombs in Punjab, then how did he get this information? What connection does he have with Pakistan that terrorists there are directly calling him and informing him about the number of bombs sent?”
The Chief Minister emphasized that neither the Punjab Police nor central intelligence agencies had received such information. “This information has not come from any intelligence source or from the central government,” he said. “If such a big leader of the opposition has received this information, then it was his responsibility to immediately inform the Punjab Police. Was he waiting for these bombs to explode, for lives to be lost, so that he could use the situation for political gain?”
Mann further questioned the intent behind Bajwa’s statements, asking whether they were based on truth or were intended to spread panic among the people of Punjab. “And if what he said is false, then is he trying to create fear and terror in the state by making such claims?”
The remarks have escalated tensions between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the opposition Congress in Punjab. The CM’s statements point toward a growing concern about political responsibility in handling security-related information, especially in a sensitive border state like Punjab.
The controversy is likely to trigger further political debate and demands for clarification from Bajwa, who has yet to respond formally to the allegations. As the issue unfolds, both security and political accountability have come into sharp focus in Punjab.
