Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav Attend International Clean Air Day in Jaipur

Jaipur, September 7, 2024 – The city of Jaipur hosted the prestigious International Clean Air Day at the Jaipur International Convention Center (JECC) today. The event was graced by the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupendra Yadav. The occasion brought together policymakers, environmentalists, and experts from around the world to discuss solutions and strategies for combating air pollution and improving air quality.

In his keynote address, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized the importance of clean air for public health and the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability. He highlighted the growing concerns of air pollution in urban areas and the steps Rajasthan is taking to mitigate its impact, including the promotion of green technologies and sustainable urban planning. “Clean air is not just a necessity for human survival but a right of every citizen. Our government is committed to ensuring that Rajasthan leads by example in creating a cleaner and healthier environment,” Sharma stated.

Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, who has been at the forefront of India’s environmental initiatives, echoed these sentiments. He spoke about the central government’s efforts to curb pollution, especially through the National Clean Air Program (NCAP). Yadav also called for greater collaboration between state governments, the private sector, and civil society to tackle air pollution. “The battle against air pollution is one we must fight together. India has made significant progress, but there is still a long way to go. Through collective action, we can ensure cleaner air for all,” he added.

The International Clean Air Day event at JECC featured several panel discussions, exhibitions, and workshops. Experts from across the globe shared insights on innovative approaches to reducing air pollution, including the adoption of electric vehicles, renewable energy sources, and the role of citizens in improving air quality.

A special focus of the event was on the role of cities in addressing air pollution, with Jaipur being showcased as an example of urban innovation. The city’s recent initiatives, such as the expansion of green spaces and the promotion of public transportation, were highlighted as part of Rajasthan’s broader efforts to reduce pollution levels.

The event concluded with a call to action for both government and citizens to work together in the fight for clean air, with an emphasis on making cleaner air a central part of India’s development goals.

As the world continues to grapple with the challenges of environmental sustainability, the International Clean Air Day in Jaipur stood out as a significant moment in India’s ongoing commitment to creating a cleaner, healthier future for all.
