Supriya Sule Criticizes Selective Bag Checks in Maharashtra, Calls It “Dirty Politics”

Washim, Maharashtra — NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Supriya Sule recently criticized the Maharashtra government for allegedly targeting opposition leaders with selective security checks. Speaking at a gathering, Sule expressed her frustration, emphasizing that only the belongings of opposition leaders are reportedly scrutinized, while ruling party leaders face no such checks.

Sule specifically highlighted the incident involving Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief and former Maharashtra Chief Minister, whose bags were allegedly checked twice. “How is it possible that only opposition leaders’ bags are checked? Uddhav Thackeray’s bags were checked twice. No checking of the leaders in power is done. Such dirty politics is being done in Maharashtra,” Sule remarked, questioning the motives behind this selective treatment.

This allegation adds another layer to the already charged political atmosphere in Maharashtra, where the state government, led by the ruling BJP alliance, has faced frequent criticism from opposition parties. Sule and other opposition leaders have previously accused the ruling government of using state machinery to intimidate and scrutinize political opponents, often through such measures. The opposition claims this not only undermines democratic values but also sends a message of selective governance.

The ongoing accusations contribute to a widening divide between Maharashtra’s ruling coalition and opposition factions. The opposition has vowed to resist what it perceives as targeted harassment, calling for fair treatment and transparency from the authorities.

As Maharashtra’s political landscape continues to heat up, these developments underscore the pressing need for impartial governance.
