Mumbai: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, addressing a public gathering, strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly making baseless allegations against other parties due to a lack of concrete achievements. Reddy claimed the BJP has been misleading the people of Maharashtra for the past few years and, in recent times, has started focusing on Telangana without valid reasons.
Reddy questioned the relevance of BJP’s criticism of Telangana while in Maharashtra, saying, “What does Telangana have to do with Maharashtra? It means that after seeing our guarantees, they got scared and started speaking against us.” He suggested that the BJP’s focus on Telangana arises from their concern over the guarantees his party has provided and delivered to the people of Telangana, which, he believes, stand in stark contrast to the BJP’s promises.
Offering to showcase the progress in Telangana’s villages, Reddy invited BJP leaders to visit the state to verify the fulfillment of promises made by the Congress-led administration. He emphasized that his government would be willing to take the BJP leaders by airplane if necessary to witness firsthand the achievements and delivery of guarantees made by the Telangana administration.
Reddy went on to critique Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unfulfilled promise to double farmers’ incomes, contrasting it with the harsh reality faced by farmers in Maharashtra, where over 20,000 farmers have committed suicide in the last 11 years. He accused the BJP of a pattern of making “false promises” to form governments and assured that the Congress, unlike BJP, stands firm in its commitments.
Concluding his address, Reddy recalled the pivotal role of former Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in the creation of Telangana, stating, “Telangana was formed on the guarantee of Sonia Gandhi.” His remarks highlighted both a commitment to Telangana’s progress under Congress and a firm rebuttal to BJP’s attempts to undermine their achievements.
This direct response from the Telangana CM highlights the intensifying political dynamics between Congress and BJP, as both parties attempt to secure their influence in the upcoming elections.
