27 October, 2024;In a tragic accident in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, two people lost their lives, and twelve were injured after a tractor trolley carrying 21 workers from Kanyakumari plunged into a ditch early on Sunday morning. The accident took place around 7 am as the workers, who were returning to their homes, met with this unfortunate incident.
Betul Collector, Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi, provided details of the incident, stating, “Today at about 6 am, some workers from Kanniyakumari were returning to their homes, and around 7 am, their tractor plunged into a ditch. Out of the 21 workers in the vehicle, 12 were injured and are now receiving treatment in the hospital, 2 died, and the rest who were safe are also being treated.”
The Chief Minister’s Office was promptly informed about the accident. Following this, the Chief Minister issued directives to ensure utmost sensitivity and efficiency in providing medical care, relief, and support to the injured and the families of the deceased. As per his instructions, the relief fund will provide Rs 2 lakh as financial assistance to the families of those who lost their lives and Rs 50,000 to those who were injured in the accident. These arrangements are actively being made to deliver the required assistance.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for improved road safety measures, especially for workers traveling long distances in open vehicles like tractor trolleys. The state administration has promised full support and timely assistance to those affected.
