This holy day, which holds special significance in Hindu culture, marks the end of the four-month period of Chaturmas, during which Lord Vishnu, the preserver and protector in the Hindu trinity, is believed to awaken from his cosmic slumber. This day is also celebrated as the beginning of auspicious events, including marriages, which were traditionally avoided during the Chaturmas period.
