“Uttar Pradesh Man Attempts to Murder Wife Following Assault by Brother”

In a disturbing case from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a man attempted to murder his wife after she disclosed that she had been raped by his brother. On returning home and learning about the assault, which occurred on April 2nd, the husband violently declared that his wife was “no longer his wife but his sister-in-law” and subsequently tried to strangle her using her dupatta. The assault was recorded by his brother on a mobile phone.

The woman was able to share the video and her written complaint on social media, prompting police action. The authorities have since charged the husband and brother-in-law with rape, attempted murder, and other offenses under the Indian Penal Code at Khatauli Kotwali police station. The Superintendent of Police, Satyanarayan Prajapati, stated that efforts are ongoing to arrest the accused, and legal proceedings will follow shortly.

This incident follows another grim case last month in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a 32-year-old man named Ram Lagan Gautam was arrested after allegedly murdering his wife Jyoti, aged 30, and their two children, Payal and Anand, ages six and three. He reportedly kept the bodies in their home for nearly three days. In a separate incident in March, a 55-year-old man in Ghaziabad was arrested for the murder of his wife, whose body he kept in their residence.
